The Snow Girl isn't a recent book. In fact, it was published in 2020 and became a bestseller, just like the author's previous books. While it was already quite well-known and acclaimed, the book has gained even more popularity thanks to its recent Netflix series adaptation, which, once again, is betting on Spanish authors for its Spanish-language series.
But what should you know about The Snow Girl? Do you know who wrote it? What is it about? If it is a unique book or is there a continuation? We answer everything, and much more, below.
Who wrote The Snow Girl?

If we have to point the finger at someone responsible for The Snow Girl appearing in bookstores in 2020, it's Javier Castillo . He's an established writer, as this novel isn't his first, but his fourth. His first novels, "The Day Sanity Was Lost" and "The Day Love Was Lost," catapulted him to success, and he's been enjoying continued success with each new book he's published.
But who is Javier Castillo? This writer was born in Malaga in 1987. His first novel was written while traveling by train to and from his job (as a financial advisor) to his home. Once finished, and thinking that his novel was much better than those that were published, he decided to write to the publishers to try his luck. However, they rejected it, and he decided to self-publish himself. Hence, when he began to succeed (and we are talking about selling more than a thousand books a day on Amazon), publishers began knocking on his door.
So much so that he was able to say goodbye to his job as a financial advisor to spend all his time writing new novels, knowing that success was with him, as has been the case.
What is The Snow Girl about?

The Snow Girl's main plot revolves around an event that occurs in 1998 and completely changes the idyllic life of a couple . When their three-year-old daughter disappears without a trace, everyone is at a loss, unsure where to look or how to help the parents who have no answers about their daughter's whereabouts.
Unlike the other novels, in this Castle it does show how the feelings of those people involved are, what they suffer and how they are emotionally, something that, in previous books, was not so glimpsed.
We leave you the synopsis:
Where is Kiera Templeton? New York, 1998, Thanksgiving Parade. Kiera Templeton, disappears into the crowd. After a frantic search throughout the city, someone finds a few strands of hair next to the clothes that the little girl was wearing. In 2003, on the day Kiera would have turned eight, her parents, Aaron and Grace Templeton, receive a strange package at home: a VHS tape with a minute-long recording of Kiera playing in an unfamiliar room. After selling more than 650.000 copies of his previous novels, Javier Castillo once again puts his sanity in check with The Snow Girl, a dark journey into the depths of Miren Triggs, a journalism student who initiates a parallel investigation and discovers that both her Life like Kiera's are full of unknowns.
What genre is The Snow Girl?
The Snow Girl, like many of Javier Castillo's books, falls within the suspense genre . Keep in mind that the story revolves around unraveling a mystery, and for this reason, the author uses two timelines that he alternates between.
This way of writing is risky and many readers who embark for the first time can be overwhelmed because at any given moment you do not know if you are in the present, in the past. But that's only at the beginning, when you still don't know the characters; then things change and those twists in the plot not only help you understand why the protagonists are like this, but you also immediately realize the timeline that is followed (and there is mystery in both).
Is there a continuation of the book?

Javier Castillo is an author who tends to intertwine his books, or to make continuations of them. It happened to him with "The day that madness was lost", which envisioned it as two books, and after the success of the first, he did not hesitate to get down to work to get the second part. But what about The Snow Girl? Is there a second part?
Well, the author himself answered this question from his readers, settling the matter . Unlike some of his other books, this one wasn't intended to be part of a series; it's a standalone book with a beginning and an end, nothing more. However, within its pages, you will find characters who, if you've read his previous works, will be quite familiar. So, in a way, it's a continuation, with different characters, of the author's earlier novels.
Are there accommodations?
We should let you know that, as with many other books, The Snow Girl is also going to be adapted into a live-action series. Specifically, Netflix has expressed interest in acquiring the rights and producing a series.
Until now, not much more is known about this new series, but the news came out in April 2021 and considering that Netflix is quite fast when making decisions, the safest thing is that perhaps by 2022 or 2023 we can be watching it.
In addition, the author is very happy because The Snow Girl is not the only adaptation of his novels. Also, in this case, through Globomedia and DeAPlaneta, they are working on a series that will encompass the author's first two novels: "The day that madness was lost" and "The day that love was lost." Nothing is known about them so far, but surely news about them will soon arrive.
