A project backed by national awards

This fair is not an isolated event, but rather part of the Reading Promotion Program 2025-2026, entitled “Read to understand, understand to learn”. This ambitious work plan, which involves multiple council departments such as Education, Youth and Senior Citizens, was previously awarded at the María Moliner Awards of the Ministry of Culture.

This cross-cutting framework includes other very diverse initiatives, such as the “Coffee and Books” series, the feminist reading club, guided school tours to the library and creative writing workshops designed specifically for senior citizens.

The gathering in Plaza del Sol has served to consolidate reading as a fundamental pillar of the community, bringing together authors, artisans and families in one morning dedicated to cultural enrichment and civic coexistence.
