Sergio Pitol Short Story Award 2016 (Mexico)

  • Genre: Story
  • Prize: $ 10 000.00 (ten thousand pesos) and edition
  • Open to: students who have current registration in any of the technical or bachelor's degrees of the public or private universities of the country.
  • Organizing entity: Universidad Veracruzana
  • Country of the convening entity: Mexico

Bases

  • They will be able to participate all students who have current enrollment in any of the technical or licensing careers of the public or private universities of the country.
  • The works must be delivered in triplicate, double-spaced, in 12-point Arial font and the extension may not be less than five pages or more than ten.

  • In each case the texts must be unpublished, delivered in printed or electronic way, and of our own creation; in front of them you must specify the category in which you want to participate.
  • They may compete in the three categories, as long as the author presents each of his works separately and accompanied by a different pseudonym.
  • The texts must be accompanied by a sealed envelope on the outside of which appears the pseudonym of the contestant and inside the real data: name, address, telephone and email, as well as a photocopy of the valid registration ballot or the document that accredits him as a student in the terms of point 1. If they do not meet these requirements, they will be disqualified.
  • La reception of the works It will be from February 29 to April 8 of this 280 05 business days, from 9:00 a.m. to 15:00 p.m., in Editorial Direction of the Veracruzana University, Hidalgo number 9, Downtown area, CP 91000, Xalapa, Veracruz.     c) A space at FILU 2015 for the winners of each category to read their work.

  • The award date will be Saturday, April 30, within the FILU framework. The transportation expenses of the winners will be covered by the Universidad Veracruzana.

The critical-creative magazine Furman 217 arises at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee, developed by a group of students from the Spanish and Portuguese department and also has the collaboration of students from other faculties and local and international creators. Furman 217 was born from the need to create more creative spaces within the academy or, in other words, to provide a space in which the academic can coexist with the creative in continuous dialogue. The magazine aims at polyphony and multilingualism, and that is why it includes stories, poems, interviews, short essays, illustrations, photographs, and does not impose a theme to follow. Although we accept any language, we are mainly looking for entries that enhance Spanish and Portuguese or languages ​​other than English.

  • Each collaborator of texts will be able to send up to 2 contributionsEach contribution must not exceed 5 pages (double spaced and Times New Roman 12) and must be sent in .doc or .docx format.
  • In the last edition, topics such as desire, travel, community, social justice, academia, the act of writing, music, memory, the city, places and technology were discussed, to name a few. The magazine includes texts in Spanish, Portuguese and English, so you are invited to send texts in other languages ​​such as French, Italian, Basque, Catalan, etc.
  • Any theme or perspective is welcome.

  • Participants: UDEP undergraduate students from both campuses. Contestants may submit more than one collection of poems to the contest, as long as they do so under different pseudonyms.

  • Features: The compositions must be original and unpublished. They must not have been published by any print or digital medium.
  • Format and extension: Between 30 to 60 verses distributed in one or two poems and on A4 sheet, Arial 12 font and double spaced.
