Hush Hush: Everything you need to know about the first book

Hush hush

Hush Hush is a book that went on sale in 2009, being the first in a saga of books about love between two teenagers. Despite the fact that several years have passed since it came out, there are still many, and many, who give this story a chance (and have been totally hooked on it).

But what is Hush Hush about? Who wrote it? What does the story convey? All of this, and a few more things, is what we want to talk about next. Go for it?

Who wrote hush hush

Becca fitzpatrick

The first thing you should know is that the book always has a person behind it (or almost always). In this case it is so. The author is Becca Fitzpatrick, an American author who became known worldwide precisely for this book.Although he has written more, but none with the success that this one (which was part of a four-book saga, or tetralogy) brought him.

Fitzpatrick studied Health Sciences at Brigham Young University, graduating in 2001. She worked as a secretary, a teacher... but in the end her devotion to writing made her dedicate herself to it. And it is that in 2003 her husband wanted to give her something special, a creative writing class.

And it was from that moment that the book Hush Hush came to mind. In fact, he did not stop writing until he finished the four books that are part of the story. (although there is a fifth book that only those who are faithful followers of the story know about). Later he wanted to publish other novels, such as Black Ice, or Dangerous Lies, but the truth is that they have not been as successful as those before.

What's Hush Hush About

Becca Fitzpatrick book

As we have told you before, Hush Hush is actually the first book in a literary saga. It started with this book, and it tells the love story between two characters, Nora Gray and Patch Cipriano, two young people who initially have nothing in common.

As a summary of the story we will tell you that it focuses on the character of Nora Gray (because she is also the one who narrates the story). He's a sophomore, brainiac. He lives with his mother on the outskirts of Coldwater after the fateful murder of his father. (who died after being mugged and is the reason why he should see the school therapist).

There she has her best friend, Vee Sky, a girl totally opposed to her, but with whom she gets along very well. Her problem is that when her biology teacher pairs her up with Patch Cipriano, things start to change. She goes from not having noticed him to feeling attracted without knowing why.

A few days later, Nora has an accident, in which she runs over a man. However, he ends up unharmed and leaving her more puzzled. Without being able to give an explanation for what happened, she tries to forget it and for this she goes out with her friend after having met two young men, one of them very interested in her.

But close to her is Patch, and her attraction to him grows, to the point of becoming something more.

We don't want to reveal much more about the plot, especially since the good thing about this book is to see how the plot develops (and the relationships progress). That's why we prefer to leave it almost at the beginning of one of the parts that makes you hooked.

And it is that revealing who Nora is, who Patch and who the characters who are close to them is quite important for the plot.

Hush Hush Characters

Speaking of characters, do you know which ones are the main ones and which ones you must control at all times in the book (not only in this one, but also in the following ones)? Here we talk about them:

  • Nora Grey: the protagonist, 16 years old. She is a somewhat introverted girl with many problems, including the death of her father (which makes her go to the school psychologist).
  • Cipriano Patch: the protagonist of the novel, an enigmatic boy who suddenly feels a great attraction for Nora, to the point of wanting to be by her side and protect her.
  • See Sky: Nora's best friend, outgoing and crazy.
  • Jules: An acquaintance of Vee and Nora, who takes an interest in Nora's friend so that he can be close to her and control her with a clear objective.
  • Dabria: the new psychologist at school and with a past related to Patch.
  • Rixon: Patch's best friend.
  • Marcie: Nora and Vee's high school enemy. In the book she doesn't go into much depth, but she will carry more weight in the following books.

How many books make up the story of Hush Hush

Collection

On several occasions we have told you that Hush Hush is the first book of four (or five)But what about the following books? Which are?

Specifically, the titles in Spanish are the following:

  • Hush hush
  • Growing up
  • Silence
  • Final

Then there is another book, The dungeons of Langeais, a short story that takes place 300 years before the start of Hush Hush (It may be good to read it to learn a little more about the past (and the reason for the history of the series)).

This book, despite the fact that it tells something prior to the plot of the book, we do not advise you to read it before, but rather after having finished the series, because details of the main character are revealed that can make you not empathize with him, or that you do too much.

A priori, if you are wondering if Hush Hush ends up incomplete and you have to read the next ones quickly, we tell you no. It has a beginning and an end, only that in the rest of the books the relationship between these characters is further developed, with a plot that continues and becomes darker until it reaches the end.

As you see, Hush Hush is one of the romantic books for young people that can attract a lot of attention to the faithful of this literary genre.. It can be read from the age of fifteen and, of course, as adults. Have you read it? What do you think about it?
