diving into the key

To a certain extent, it seems simple. The feeling we get when we're in the company of a particular person is entirely recognizable . There are people with whom we feel good, and others who give us a jolt in our stomach, and not exactly a positive one. Emotions are, to a certain degree, interconnected. And it's necessary to find the cause of the disturbance in order to understand it, analyze it, and decide how to manage it . Marian Rojas Estapé always emphasizes this in each of her interventions and psychiatric studies. To understand ourselves, we must know ourselves . Undoubtedly, our brain chemistry is activated, and this is something the psychiatrist knows well.

Emotional and relational life

Relationships are never easy, not even those that should seemingly be the most pleasant—the intimate ones, those we find with our partner or closest family. The doctor, in her book, posits that well-being is achieved, is formed, through the relationships we have with others . If we are able to cultivate good relationships, to choose who we surround ourselves with and how we manage this complex relational world, we will be investing in a strong and comfortable quality of life.

As social animals, human beings need others to a greater or lesser degree, depending on their personality. Therefore, the bonds we form, those that are broken or deficient from childhood, will affect us throughout our lives and in our relationships . These relationships can become more complex and challenging depending on our life history and the course of our emotions. Estapé speaks of childhood and love from the very beginning of our journey in this world and how our path shapes our personality. She also discusses the capacity to have healthy or unhealthy relationships, to be competent in detecting toxic ones (a word she detests), and to have the determination to let go and start anew.

In addition to the vital importance of relationships and doing them well, Find Your Vitamin Person touches on essential points such as attachment, the urgent need for physical contact, upbringing and treatment received in childhood, so-called toxic people , love at all levels, and most importantly: how to detect people who are not good for us and heal insecurities or psychological flaws caused by traumas from past relationships.

The importance of oxytocin

The book also discusses the importance of oxytocin, as hormones play a crucial role in our lives. It refers to it as the "cuddle hormone" ; from a more scientific perspective, it is a hormone essential for life. It regulates certain aspects related to pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding, as well as sexual relations. Regarding emotions, it could be said that it is a hormone that influences our emotional life , and it is particularly relevant because Estapé discovered that it can regulate cortisol, the hormone that alerts us when we are in danger.

In the family, in the couple, in friends, at work: some conclusions

The book is conceived as a scientific and psychological tool, but from a very natural perspective . It's an incredibly useful key that unlocks the realm of emotions and opens the door to a deeper understanding of our relationship with the world and the other people who inhabit this planet. It helps clarify what happens when we meet someone and when we live with them. What happens within us. From our inside out, and not the other way around. " Find Your Vitamin Person" is certainly a compelling guide to getting closer to the people who enrich our lives , relationships to which we, in turn, can contribute, creating a virtuous social circle.
