Who is Rafael Santandreu?

Rafael Santandreu Lorite, his full name, is a psychologist, but also a writer. He studied at the University of Barcelona and, when he finished, he enrolled in the Official College of Psychologists of Catalonia.

As specified on his website (since we have known that he is a bit "picky" with the articles that are written about him and likes things very well done, and if he can, he even does them himself), began to train in different psychotherapies. Also traveled outside of Spain to improve his experience and training. An example was the time he was working in Arezzo, Italy, with Giorgio Nardone, a famous psychologist.

Journalist Jorge Méndez was about the time of 2000 when he became a professor at Ramon Llull University, a position that he combined with that of editor-in-chief in the magazine Mente sana (psychology) with Jorge Bucay.

After a time as a teacher and psychologist, his passion for writing made him write his first book, The art of not making life bitter. Such was the success of this that it did not stop there, but more began to come out, the last one, until 2021, Fearless.

However, this literary facet is not something exclusive to Santandreu, but combines it with psychotherapy, dissemination and training.

Rarely do you have the opportunity to meet the greatest sages in the world and ask them how you can be happy. However, as editor-in-chief of the Mente Sana magazine, the psychologist and popularizer Rafael Santandreu managed to interview ten of the most respected international authorities in the field of human happiness.

Along with examples and anecdotes, practical advice available to anyone and a glossary of essential terminology, Santandreu summarizes the reasons for human well-being: from the strictly neural to the most transcendental, they are all endorsed by recognized names such as Marinoff, Honore, Cyrulnik, Punset, Marina or Weil, among others. "School of Happiness" integrates in a didactic and rigorous way ten complementary ways of explaining happiness and clearly demonstrates that a full, exciting and immensely rewarding life is possible for everyone.

In other words, this is a compilation of some of the interviews that were published in the magazine Mente sana.

The glasses of happiness

The glasses of happiness

My relationship with psychology is like a little love story and I confess that, when I graduated in 1992, I did not believe much in its power to change people.

It was not until I went back to study the work of the famous psychologist Albert Ellis a few years later, that I began to understand the impact that thought itself could have on people's minds. I checked it out with myself and, with a little mental work, I managed to change my emotions.

Psychology worked!

Later, as a therapist, I had the opportunity to witness much more radical changes in my patients. This book aims to make you a much stronger and happier person. It brings together all the mechanisms known to modern psychology to transform us. I'm personally not a fan of self-help books, except the evidence-based ones. Here I offer you only tools of proven effectiveness and I assure you that 80% of the patients who have followed my therapeutic combination have completely left behind depression, anxiety, obsessions and exaggerated fears.

Cognitive therapy is the most scientific and rigorous form of psychology that exists. It is so rigorous that it resembles physical exercise: if you go to the gym and exercise as your teacher has indicated, muscle growth is guaranteed. The mind works in a similar way and I assure you that it is the most important part of the human body, the central computer that controls everything. It is worth working for: it will reward you in all aspects of your life.

Be happy in Alaska. Strong minds against all odds

All the "neuras" that make our lives bitter -anxiety, depression, stress, shyness-, all the worries and fears, are simply the result of an erroneous mentalization that we can permanently reverse. Be happy in Alaska presents the method to achieve it from the hand of the most effective therapeutic school in the world: modern cognitive psychology.

«With my two previous books, The art of not making life bitter and The glasses of happiness, I have managed to reach millions of readers, which is always a joy for an author. And it is also a pride that my books are studied in psychology faculties around the world. But the most satisfying thing is receiving daily emails from people who have completely transformed their lives with these readings. Even in cases of psychological disorders considered "serious" by other health professionals.

With Being happy in Alaska I wanted to go one step further by refining the methodology of Cognitive Psychology in three big steps, which are at the base of any transformation process:

1) Turn inward.

2) Learn to walk lightly.

3) Appreciate what surrounds us.

"Applied with intensity every day, these three steps are the key to a 'muscular' mind, which is not disturbed. With a well-furnished head, no adversity will be a reason to prevent us from enjoying life in all its fullness.»

Without fear

"Fearless" is the ultimate method. Anyone can put it into practice by following the instructions and, of course, without the need to take drugs. Get ready to become the best version of yourself: a free, powerful and happy person.

Is it possible to live without fear? Of course.

Hundreds of thousands of people have rewired their brains thanks to this method, endorsed by hundreds of scientific studies.

Four clear and concise steps will allow us to completely overcome even the most acute fears:

  • Anxiety or panic attacks.
  • Obsessions (OCD).
  • Hypochondria.
  • Shyness.
  • Or any other irrational fear.
