The author who came up with the story of Angel's Café is none other than Anne Jacobs. Her name may be familiar to you, since she became known worldwide for the book "The Villa of the Fabrics."
Jabobs was born in Germany in 1950, specifically in Lower Saxony, Saxony, where he lived for 15 years before moving to Idstein.
At first the literary vein did not call her, but she studied music, French and Russian. She dedicated part of her life to teaching, since she was (not now, because she is retired) a secondary education teacher.
It was much later when he began to write books and publish them. But be careful, because although she has about twenty novels, many of them were published under a pseudonym. The latter are those that have not left Germany (nor have they been translated). The first? Hexen, Heuchler, Herzensbrecher, in 1999 (the title means "Witches, Hypocrites, Heartbreakers."
In 2023 he published what, so far, is the last book, the sixth part of the series The Villa of the Cloths, titled "Reunion in the Villa of the Cloths."
In the specific case of El café del Ángel, this book was published on October 6, 2022, the year in which he also published one of the books in his most acclaimed series, La villa de las telas.
What is The Angel's Café about?
The full title of The Angel's Café is The Angel's Café: A New Time. In it we are going to find two female characters as protagonists. On the one hand, Hilde. On the other hand, Luisa.
The plot is centered in 1938, but soon the book changes and jumps to 1945, at which point the entire story is already in place. The center of the novel is the Angel Café, owned by Hilde's family and a business run now that the war seems to be ending.
However, it is not the only plot. In reality, there are some more secondary ones that have quite a bit of weight and will make you meet other characters. Now, many readers think that these subplots only lengthen the book, but they don't really contribute much (with some exceptions) to what the story the author wants is.
In fact, one of the obstacles many have with this particular book is that it does not end up engaging. And the problem is that it moves from one plot to another without delving in or focusing, without giving the reader a reason to have to read pages and pages that have no interest in the central story.

One of the common questions that is often asked regarding books is whether these are single books or there are more parts. This is not something that publishers often warn about, and you are surprised when you finish the book.
In the case of The Angel's Café, due to the fact that it is relatively old, it does not have that surprise because we know that there are a total of three books. The first two are already printed. But you will have to wait for the third part to be published, we still don't know when it will be. Unless you want to start reading them now (they are long books) and then continue reading the third one.
Unlike other sagas, bilogies or trilogies, this one does continue the story outlined in the first book with the second (and we assume with the third). Which means that reading them independently is not a good idea.
In fact, you could read the first and depending on whether you liked the story or not, continue with the second part. But you couldn't read and understand one hundred percent the story of the book without first having the first one in your hands.
