The councilor of Xuventude de Cangas (Pontevedra), Óscar Graña, today presented the program of the 11th Salón do Cómic de Cangas, which will take place between July 16 and 22 at the Municipal Auditorium with free admission. Graña explained that the Hall "has associated a series of initiatives", such as the Comic Workshop for children directed by the cartoonist and humorist Luis Davila, who also participated in the presentation of the event together with Xuventude's technique, Mercedes Lorenzo. The nationalist mayor also highlighted the call for the Comic Contest -which will culminate with the publication of the works in the O Tebeo magazine-, the projection of films related to this field and the talks-colloquium with prestigious professionals of the sector, which will be open to all attendees.

Juanjo Guarnido, Juan Díaz Canales, Fernando Iglesias and Kenny Ruiz are the experts who will star in this eleventh edition of the Cangas Comic Fair, without prejudice to anyone else who may come off the bill. Guarnido has an outstanding international career as a cartoonist for both designed band and audiovisual animation, as the Granada-born man worked on Disney feature films such as The Hunchback of Notre Dame before editing the Blacksad saga in France, which became a true 'best-' seller '. The Madrid-born Díaz Canales is the scriptwriter of this successful publication, although he also participates in television series and animated films such as Asterix and the Vikings. The Galician representation in the 11th Salón do Cómic will come from the hand of Fernando Iglesias, alias 'Kohell', who arrives with the endorsement of the well-known comic strip Impresiones de la Isla. From Alicante comes Kenny Ruiz, who created numerous albums for different publishers and He obtained various awards, including three awards at the Saló del Còmic in Barcelona. Ruiz made interesting forays into animation for Disney Corp. and also in Spanish productions such as El Cid, the legend.

The Concellería de Xuventude designed for this eleventh edition of the Salón do Cómic de Cangas an extensive weekly program that begins with the inauguration on Monday 16 at the Auditorium, at 19.30 pm. On Tuesday 17, the doors will open at twelve noon to start the Comic Workshop, which despite being free, requires prior registration to organize the groups. Luis Davila advanced in the presentation that he will work with the children to “give life” to a character and “create a story” through drawing and the script. He also emphasized that the Cangas Comic Fair allows to present international authors of level and bring their originals closer to the public. On the same Tuesday, already in the afternoon, a film will be shown in the Auditorium. The same structure will have the programming for Wednesday 18, which is completed with the presentation of the fifth number of O Tebeo magazine and the awards ceremony of the 9th Comic Contest. On Thursday 19, after the workshops and the screening, caricatures will be made to the visitors.

On Friday 20, films will be shown in the morning and in the afternoon, before the renowned Kiko da Silva arrives at 19.00:XNUMX p.m. to present BD Banda, a magazine created to alleviate the lack of channels so that Galician authors could publish their works with good graphic and layout conditions. Half an hour later, Kenny Ruiz and Fernando Iglesias will give their lectures, with subsequent debate.

On Saturday 21 there will be a morning screening and from 20 pm the talk-colloquium with Juanjo Guarnido and Juan Díaz Canales will take place. The author signing and closing will take place at nine o'clock in the evening, while on Sunday 22 the exhibition will remain open. Throughout the week the best animation series will be shown on the monitors in the room.

Xuventude's technique, Mercedes Lorenzo, highlighted that, in addition to the works of the invited authors, this year's exhibition will bring together some forty originals by the cartoonists who went through the eleven editions of the Salón do Cómic and who gave their works to the City Council of Cangas. The bookstores of the sector will also have their space.

Xuventude councilor, Óscar Graña, encouraged citizens to attend the Cangas Comic Hall and expressed his intention to continue this "interesting initiative" with future editions, but announced some changes in order to improve it. These modifications involve "promoting the use of Galician" in the comics, "without underestimating other languages", and "decentralizing" the event, so that it also moves outside the Auditorium with exhibitions in other parts of the municipality or activities in the Street.
