Toledo returns to a noir style with Mazapanoir, crime novel festival which will fill the city with intrigue and analysis November 24 to 28The meeting will take place at the Library of Castile-La Mancha, with afternoon activities that aim to bring the genre closer to readers, professionals and curious individuals.
In her seventh edition, the competition adopts the motto «Other Perspectives» to emphasize the diversity, inclusion and gender perspective within contemporary crime fiction. From the City Council, the Councillor for Culture, Ana PerezIt highlights the established nature of a program that understands noir as space for dialogue and critical reading.
Dates and day-by-day program
The agenda will bring together authors, journalists and filmmakers to review gender trends and its intersections with social reality. All sessions are scheduled between 19:00 and 21:00 in the conference room of the regional library.
Monday 24th. Opening with the director and writer from Toledo Mabel Lozano, who will present the short film "Ava" and address how noir dialogues with the fight against sexual exploitation, an approach where the criminal narrative acquires a clear social dimension.
Tuesday 25. Coinciding with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, will intervene MarÃa Cristina GarcÃa Carballo, Prado G. Velázquez y Mayte González Mozos on a table regarding the presence of the male violence in noir and crime fiction.
Wednesday 26th. The writer Santiago Diaz Cortes will talk with the specialist Charo González Herrera about diversity and stereotypes in the genre, a necessary debate to review characters, plots and representations.
Thursday 27. The masters of the historical thriller Jorge Diaz Cortes y Agustin Martinez They will share the stage to analyze narrative keys and resources from the past that fuel contemporary suspense.
28 Friday. Closing with David Llorente Oller y Paco Gomez Notary, focused on the Madrid noir and his raw look at the periphery, the codes of the neighborhood and the urban pulse.

The festival takes place in the Library of Castile-La Mancha, a cultural landmark of the city, with scheduled activities 19:00 - 21:00 between Monday, November 24th and Friday, November 28th.
They are promoting the initiative Toledo Booksellers Association and the crime novel club from the regional library, with the support of AS Communication y Santelesforo, an alliance that strengthens the reach of the event.
