Who is Carmen Posadas

Who is Carmen Posadas

Carmen de Posadas Mañé, her true identity, He was born in Montevideo, in Uruguay. He did it in August 1953 but actually lives in Spain, where he has his residence. His father was a diplomat while his mother was a restorer. Due to his father's work, the whole family moved from Uruguay to Argentina, Spain, England, Russia… from the age of 12. She is the oldest of four siblings, 3 girls and a boy.

His literary career began in 1980, when he wrote children's and youth literature, two genres that currently do not identify so much with Carmen Posadas, since her novels go elsewhere. However, she became known for these books. In fact, in 1984 his book El Señor Viento Norte won the National Prize for Literature.

In addition to writing children's books, he also wrote film and television scripts, satirical essays, and even collaborated with other authors in different genres.

As the years progressed, so did the number of Carmen Posadas's books. And it is that in 1991 he published a new essay, Who has seen you and who sees you! In 1995, the novel Five blue flies; in 1997, Nothing is what it seems, a collection of short stories; or in 1998 Pequeñas Infamias with which he won the Planeta Prize.

1999 was a fateful year for the writer since, in just two months apart, she lost both her father and her husband (Mariano Rubio).

Little by little he recovered and his pen changed to a more adult register. And the fact is that the books that he began to publish were no longer so much for a child or youth audience, but for an adult one. In fact, in 2001 with La Bella Otero, he got a film adaptation.

Despite the fact that Carmen Posadas has been dedicating herself more to the genre of adult novels, she always has some space to take children's stories. The last one is My First Book on Machado, from 2009. For its part, of novels, the last one published is The Legend of the Pilgrim, from 2020.

As for literary awards, he has a small collection to his credit. We can highlight the Planeta Prize in 1998, the Culture Prize of the Community of Madrid in 2008; or the Brazier Prize, the 2014 Goncourt for French Gastronomic Novel.

Carmen Posadas books

Talking to you next about each and every one of Carmen Posadas's books would be almost endless. Although he has not written as much as other authors, he does have a good collection of works of his own. Specifically, and based on the information from Wikipedia, He has written 24 children's stories, 6 essays, a book of interviews with the author Lucrecia King-Hedinger, and 14 narrative novels.

Among all of them, we highlight the following:

Lord North Wind

Lord North Wind

Un children's book from 3 years in which the story is told of some animals that, seeing that the month of March arrives, fear the appearance of the fearsome Mr. North Wind, because he does not stop blowing.

Two children, Arturo and María, will try to convince this man to stop blowing so that spring can arrive.

The merchant of dreams and other stories

Published by the Alfaguara publishing house (and not so easy to find now), you have The Merchant of Dreams and Other Stories, by Carmen Posadas. This book, which are focused on children ages 8-9, tells the story of Ahmet, a young salesman who meets a merchant. This offers you some magic drops that will make you go to a fantastic world where you will be rich and powerful. But those dreams also hide a terrible danger.

Little infamies

Small infamies places us in a summer house of an art collector. He decides to get together with a group of people and the hours go by in a pleasant way. Until things go wrong and relationships poisoned, phrases with double meanings and "naughty" comments begin to make an appearance.

Today caviar, tomorrow sardines

We highlight this book by the author because it was a collaboration with her brother, Gervasio Posadas. The book will count the adventures of the Posadas family through the different destinations for which they lived due to their father's profession. In it, the authors have tried to represent what the life of a diplomat is like, with cocktails, lunches, dinners, etc. as well as living "beyond their means" and trying to pretend an image that was not really what they had.

The legend of the pilgrim

The legend of the pilgrim

This book is the last published to date by Carmen Posadas. And in him, far from what you can think of from the title, It deals with the story of a jewel called La Peregrina. It is a pearl, the most famous of all time. In its beginnings, it was found in the Caribbean Sea and was handed over to Felipe II. This was leaving it as an inheritance to the different queens until, with the War of Independence, it arrived in France. There, Richard Burton himself gave it to Elizabeth Taylor.

Rebecca's syndrome

This book, written with intelligence and a bit of humor, seeks to serve as a guide to conjuring love ghosts, as it says on the cover of the book. And it is that what it tries is to teach to detect shadows of past loves that may be the culprits that you compare your new love with the previous one, or that you think that one is better than another.

Of course, it does not seek to conjure them to be part of your life, but to end them and turn the pages once and for all.

Hi, I'm reading the Sira book, and I'm a bit busy. A few days ago I saw the series “Entre costuras” again and I think I remember that Ramiro Arribas died, and in the book “Sida” he reappeared. I'm confused.

In 1999, Rafael Ruiz del Cueto, her first husband and father of her two daughters, did not die, but her second husband Mariano Rubio. All the best.
